Holter Monitoring - 24/48 Hour by Burdick
This is one of the most common ways to diagnose a heart related issue. A Holter is a small device that the patient wears typically for 24 or 48 hours. It captures every beat of ECG data. At the end of the monitoring period, the data is downloaded to a “scanning system” where one of our Certified Cardiac Technologists “scans” the Holter, looking for abnormalities.
Although this is our most popular service, the symptom that the patient was complaining about which prompted a doctor to order a Holter, might not have happened during the 24 or 48 hour period. If this is the case, physicians will often order a longer term Holter.
Long Term Holters - 7 Days by Spacelabs
Long Term Holters are very similar to what is described under the Holter Monitoring section, with the difference of being worn for up to a 2 week period. This provides the greatest chance of a physician being able to diagnose what is happening to the heart related to a patients symptoms / concerns.
Cardiac Solutions Inc. is proud to partner up with two manufacturers (Spacelabs Healthcare and Norav) for long-term Holter Monitoring. Spacelabs Healthcare Canada allows us to monitor a patient for up to 7 days while the new Norav Holter allows for up to 14 days. We have two offerings as some clients want the patient to come back after 7 days to so that they can look at the data sooner while others are fine with having the patient away for the full 14 days, thus saving them an extra trip to the office. Our staff evaluated the various vendors that could offer long-term Holters and found the Spacelabs and Norav to be the right fit based on the scanning software, ease of use, reliability of the monitors, and support. Cardiac Solutions Inc. can provide the long-term Holter recorders to you OR you can purchase the recorders from Roxon medi-tech (authorized distributor) at a pre-negotiated price for you. This price is the best possible price and is the same whether you purchase one recorder or twenty! While under contract with Cardiac Solutions Inc., we will cover the warranty on any Holter recorder purchased from Canadian Hospital Specialties, thus minimizing your operational costs!
Long Term Holter - 14 Days by Norav
This service is for those who what total flexibility. The Norav NR314 Holter recorder allows the flexibility to monitor anywhere from 24 hours up to 14 days at once using a single AA battery. Clients who want a greater chance of capturing an event and not requiring a patient to come back after 7 days would prefer this type of setup. Like Spacelabs, Norav has agree to partner up with Cardiac Solutions Inc. which allows us to offer the highest level of service and support. Locally recorders are sold by Canadian Hospital Specialties. If you want to purchase the Norav recorders and have Cardiac Solutions Inc. provide the scanning, special pre-negotiated pricing has been setup already. Like the arrangement with Spacelabs, the price is the lowest regardless if you purchase one recorder or 100!
